Wild news < BACK
Good intentions often lead to unpredictable results and decide the fate of many without us even suspecting it.
To illustrate why one should not make the decision to move an adult hedgehog, I will tell you the story of 4 of the baby hedgehogs that are with us for rearing until they grow up and become independent.
A kind woman sees a large hedgehog on the street and decides to move it to prevent it from being hit by a car. She brings it into her yard for the night, with the intention of taking it into the woods in the morning.
In the morning, however, the hedgehog disappears and she can't find it, and there's no way out of the yard, a solidly fenced yard.
She finds the animal a week later and takes it into the woods. Two days after that she finds baby hedgehogs in her yard, by this time already in poor condition. The adult hedgehog was their mother and for 2 days they stayed without her and did not feed. And she might not have found them before they died.
DO NOT MOVE HEDGEHOGS!
Good intentions quite often turn into a scary killing weapon. Often we don't even understand what we've created as a result.
Thanks to the kind woman for contacting us to take on the babies!
