A Dog-bitten Grass Snake
10/19/2021
A Dog-bitten Grass Snake

A Grass snake bitten by a dog. The skin is torn in several places and part of the internal organs are outside the body. Fortunately, the internal tissues and organs themselves were not torn, and the injuries were fresh.

In cases like this, the quick reaction of the people who found the animal is extremely important. The longer the internal organs remain on the outside, the more they become dirty and dry, so it is vital to transport the animal quickly to the rescue and to perform surgery immediately.

Upon arrival, the snake was taken into surgery and Dr. Iva Nikolova (Veterinary Clinic Dobro Hrumvane) treated and sutured all the torn areas.

In general, this type of injury has an unfavourable prognosis, because the bacteria introduced into the body in such a direct way is quite a difficult issue to overcome. We hope the quick response will do its magic and the animal will survive.
