Patients news < BACK
Insectivorous birds have returned from the south, however here it is winter again. Even if it lasts only a few days, it still wears them down, because insectivorous birds need to eat often in order to survive. Even a day or two of starvation is a huge problem for them. When starvation is combined with high body energy expenditure for warming due to the low temperatures outside, weight loss becomes dramatic. As a consequence, these birds become an easy prey not only for natural predators, but also for stray cats.
This hoopoe is quite weak, it was attacked by a cat. It has a broken wing, it has lost important feathers for flying. The prognosis for the bird’s survival is currently unclear.

The Wild Animals Foundation is a non-governmental organization. We exist only thanks to donations.
You can help us by donating funds for the construction of our Wild Hospital for animals of all species, protected and unprotected. This is our great goal and it is the only way to continue existing and growing in the benefit of wildlife. Without you, we will not be able to collect the required amount.
