Late Swifts
10/12/2021
Late Swifts

Animals have a strong parental instinct, which can overcome incredible obstacles. However, for migratory birds there comes a moment, when a stronger, more insistent instinct forces them to abandon their still dependent young, and leave them without care.

The fate of swifts that have been hatched late is horrifying. When the cold weather comes, the lack of insects forces the adult birds to head south.

Clinging to the wall of the nest in the fugues of our panel blocks, the young ones await their parents to return to feed them. They wait and wait, but their parents never return. And when their strength fails, the tired young ones fall one by one on the ground to be eaten by a predator. It’s nature. Real life isn’t a fairytale.
