A pregnant roe deer bitten by dogs in the Boyana district of Sofia. Fortunately, she only had wounds on the neck. Usually the most severe lesions caused by dogs are on genitals.

Due to the specifics of the species, does must be taken care of extremely quickly and the animal must be released as soon as possible - they cannot tolerate detention even just for a few days. Dr. Mircheva in veterinary clinic Good Will treated the numerous profusely bleeding wounds on Boyana’s neck, and after a short intensive therapy, the doe was released.

Special thanks to the Regional Directorate of Forestry - Sofia for the help with the transportation!

We have talked numerous times about stray dogs in the suburbs of Sofia - specifically in the area of Vitosha. This area is extremely dangerous for deer and other wildlife. Most deer that we admit with dog bites, are found in the Boyana district. They’re not a small number at all. Most of them can no longer be helped.
