Some patients are particularly charming
A Marsh frog (Rana ridibunda) which got stuck in a drained artificial pond with smooth vertical walls, and wasn’t able to get out. The frog stayed there for an unknown amount of time. Fortunately, it was no longer dramatically dehydrated. The frog will be released in a more suitable place.
It would be best to never drain an artificial pond with vertical walls, but if you had to do it - check behind what you leave in the mud at the bottom, in the garbage, in the accumulated leaves. Additionally, it’s recommended to check regularly afterwards, because stray animals can jump or fall inside even after you have drained the pond. They can't predict that they won't be able to get out.
If you have a pool or pond, even if they are maintained and have water, it would be good to make a ramp for animals in case they fall while drinking water. Many animals die because they can’t figure a way out.
